Mandatory redistribution quotas still off the table as EU grapples with refugee crisis
As EU interior ministers meet at an emergency summit in Brussels today, it is clear that the European Commission’s proposal for binding quotas to relocate 120,000 refugees within the bloc is to be kicked into the long grass. Examining the draft summit communique, we examine what other measures are on the table, and ask whether the EU is getting any closer to a comprehensive plan of action to deal with the refugee crisis.
